... been there, dune that!
The last weekend we decided to abandon the malls and visit our new environment a bit.
Desert Branch of the Inland Sea, quite to the south on the map.
view the size of the country, get there early. Finally early to late the road. After this track, sand dunes and ...
We started with two cars, with a colleague from Dock. All manuals
driving in the sand strongly recommend to deflate the tires to the maximum, that Dock and his colleague were not bothered by having to pump up starting again ...
Obviously what had happened: the first pile of sand silted colleague. As we were well past Dock has released the belt and we have learned quickly from this mess.
We are thus left to the adventure ... Not for long: second sandpile same story. Dock therefore turn to pull back his colleague and he is also silting. We began to appreciate any irony in this ad for a mobile phone operator ...
We leave so the shovel and start shoveling (I took mostly pictures ...).
Nothing doing, the Toy was silted up chassis. Morale began to dive when a guy appeared on a quad who came to see if we needed help and went back to retrieve his car. It is income a quarter of an hour later, but unfortunately too silted ...
The situation was frankly less comical ... like three cars stuck in the desert it stands out a fourth type, Qatar, came to help us: we saw him that he knew the desert. In a jiffy he reached the car, we deflated the tires of authority and offered to guide us to the inland sea, through the dunes.
is mounted ...
and it goes down!
was awesome and impressive.
When we arrived at our destination
he showed us a nice place to picnic,
just face of Saudi Arabia.
(If someone had told me that day I have a picnic at 300 meters from Saudi Arabia ...!).
At one point, several ultralight we have flown and landed a little further, we understood why when a few minutes later we heard the muezzin's call ... Here in the desert some go to Friday prayers in a microlight ...
Ahmad (his name was really like the pub ;-)) we had proposed to move his camp to have a coffee but on the stroke of 5 o'clock in the evening, yet here it is night at 17h Black and return at night we do not feel too much. No problem, his "cousin" escorted us starting point, always at full speed and even through the dunes, as we saw off the convoy of expatriates, moving slowly, wisely aligned and away the largest dunes ...
Obviously we'll be back but he'll have to call Ahmad because I do not think we are still able to go alone!
