How To Make A Camouflage Cake

... demographics.

Demographically speaking, Qatar is quite extraordinary. Not so much by the global population of 1.7 million inhabitants but by the composition and distribution of this population.

Already this population doubled between 2004 and 2010 (+128% to be exact), but no worries because the GDP has increased by 210% over the same period (in constant currency). On

1.7 million there are approximately 1.4 million foreigners! I did not find the exact distribution by nationality and recent of these expatriates, but the vast majority is coming from Arab countries or the Indian subcontinent (close to 40%) and Iran (10%). Westerners are finally a minority.

Even more surprising is the gender distribution: 75/25%. I think it's a world record even if all the Gulf countries are aware, to varying degrees, this kind of demographic aberration due to the influx of immigrant workers who do not come all the family. Such a discrepancy, I assure you will notice when you walk in the streets, Only men!
But apparently things change a bit if I think this article because the number of good immigrant (here is a good name, eh, not a word ;-)) has increased tremendously in recent years (from 74 000 to 132,000 in 2 years) and I quote: "this Alarming Rise In The Number of Single Women, it's Feared," could create a serious imbalance in which the population structure. I like me the impression that there is room and in my humble opinion it will not stay single very long time ...
This mass immigration is that 85% of the total population in the age group 15-64 years.

As for the distribution the territory (small, more or less the size of Corsica, to give you an order of magnitude) it is also uneven: Doha hosts nearly half of the total population. The overall density is 146 inhabitants per km2, it is for Doha 3394 ... This largely explains this ...

All these figures are taken from this site and especially this document that you can go if you want to learn more.
